Nigeria has continued to fall in FIFA ranking as it currently rated 70th in the world. With this the country has dropped nine position from 61 in May to 70 in June.

The best ranked team in Africa is Algeria, which stands at 32 with Cote d’ Voir, Ghana, Senegal, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Egypt, Uganda better ranked than the Super Eagles.

The team has not been performing recently and it has failed to qualify for two consecutive African Cup of Nations. Nigeria was edged out by Pharaohs of Egypt in the last qualifying series for the Gabon 2017 AFCON.

Argentina is currently leading the ranking as it occupies its first position despite losing to Chile in the final of the recently concluded Copa America.

Belgium occupies second position, followed by Colombia and Germany and Chile, the COPA Champions in the fifth position.

Euro 2016 winners, Portugal are ranked 6th with France and Spain coming in at 7th and 8th respectively.

Meanwhile, The Nigeria Football Federation has debunked the online reports that it had signed agreement with Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation to get the sum of $1.5 million to pay new Super Eagles Coach.

Chairman of the NFF Media and Publicity Committee, Hon. Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande, said there was no time the federation had sat with NNPC to sign such agreement as he described the report as false.
