Nigeria Was A Difficult Side – Messi
Argentina forward, Lionel Messi has confessed that the match against Nigeria in which the South American won was a difficult game.
Messi spoke at the post-match conference, adding that the Super Eagles were a good side but Argentina was able to find the solution to beat them.
Messi who opened the score for Argentina said that his team had control of the first half of the game but thing changed in the second half when Nigeria equalized through a penalty kick.
He said, “We knew it was going to be difficult after the equalizer and we had to press forward to get the winning goal.’
Messi became the second Argentine that would score in three consecutive world cup after Diego Maradona.
The Argentina captain stated that the team would be facing France in the second round and would be ready to face fireworks again.
“We know the physicality of the French team. We will find a solution to it,” Messi said.
Messi had to fall down on the pitch against Nigeria to regain his strength in a tension soaked game that eventually denied Nigeria a space in the round of 16. He was pulled up by Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel so that the match could continue.
