The faceoff between residents of Rukuba community and the third division of Nigeria Army, Maxwell Cobe cantonment Jos over land acquisition is threatening the peace of the community which hosts the third division of the Nigerian Army.
Hundreds of women and youth from various Rukuba Community dressed in Black took to the streets to protest, accusing the army of confiscating, encroaching and denying them the rights to own personal property on their own lands.
This latest action by the community to embark on a peaceful protest is coming on the heels of the letter written to the community leader of Rukuba by the Third Division of the Nigeria Army giving the community three-month notice to vacate what the army tagged army land situated and lying within the cantonment in Dutsen Kura.
But the leaders of the community affected disagree instead, they are saying that not all of the 7.76 square miles of land acquired were fully paid for.
