A Man ‘Mayowa’ Allegedly Hacks Another Man To Death Over N200

A man, Mayowa Olabiyi, 34-year-old, was brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday in Lagos for allegedly hacking a man to death over N200.

Mayowa had appeared before O.O. Olatunji, the Chief Magistrate, on a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.

Mayowa’s appeal was not taken and was remanded at the Ikoyi Prison, Lagos for the next one month.

The Chief Magistrate directed that the case file should be sent to the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

Oladele Adebayo, the police prosecutor, earlier told the court that the accused (Mayowa) committed the offences on August 26, 2018, at 6.30 p.m., at Number 23, Irepodun Street, Shangisha, Magodo, Lagos State.

The police prosecutor alleged that the accused and two (2) others now at large, had hacked a 23 years old man, Akeem Ajilogba, with a matchet during a brawl over N200.

Adebayo stated that the offences, contravened Sections 223 and 233 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 which specify death sentence for offenders.

The case has been adjourned to October 11, 2018, for the DPP’s advice.
