Nigeria’s Sincere And Hypocritical Looters
Nigeria News takes a look at the cases of looters in Nigeria, their sincerity and hypocrisy.
Many Lagosians, including politicians, believe that the former state Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has cornered the wealth of Lagos State through the Alpha Beta, the company that manages the state’s Internally Generated Revenue.
Tinubu is believed to be the owner of Alpha Beta. Many believe that Tinubu is running Lagos as personal business and that is why he will always want to impose successive governors on the state.
But no one has traced his name to any of the questionable establishments with which Lagos income comes in and expenditure goes out.
Tinubu is so smart that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has not been able to nail him, despite myriads of allegations against him.
The former President Olusegun Obasanjo would have messed up Tinubu if he had got evidence to do so during his two-term regime in which Tinubu was a thorn on his flesh but he could not deal with him.
Once, Tinubu was probed by the Code of Conduct Tribunal over false declaration of asset but was exonerated. Since then, no other agency has laid hands on the Jagaban of Borgu.
He was accused to have looted Lagos dry, yet he is yet to be investigated, instead, he has risen from being a state leader to a national leader.
Today, Tinubu is on the verge of bringing back President Muhammadu Buhari for the second term, using his logic and strategy to ensure this.
The politicians know how they play their game. If a novice
Check what Tinubu said about Buhari years ago and compare with what he is saying now. Check what Obasanjo said about Atiku in his book and what he is saying now.
My position: Let those who have been initiated into the political cult play their game…make reasonable comments and be temperate in your use of words. This season will soon pass.
A few weeks ago, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar listed Tinubu as one of the most corrupt Nigerians working for the purported incorruptible administration of Buhari.
Having worked closely with Tinubu since their days in the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Atiku could speak about Tinubu’s antecedents to a certain extent.
Atiku mentioned that more than 20 Nigerians currently working for Buhari’s return among whom are the former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, the former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, the former Governor of Edo State who is now the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole had cases with EFCC.
Atiku also mentioned the Minister of Transportation and former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi. All these politicians had cases with EFCC but since they pitched their tents with the ruling party, their sins had since been forgiven.
These are hypocritical thieves. They are the sincere looters who are being prosecuted daily. Some of these set of looters had agreed to return their loots through plea bargain in courts.
Atiku, even though he has never been prosecuted over any corrupt case, the former Vice President agreed that there are looters among his cronies. To him, rather than prosecuting them, these looters would be granted amnesty and given the opportunity to invest the loots in the country’s economy.
