Nnamdi Kanu: IPOB Goes To ECOWAS Court

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB will be taking the Federal Government of Nigeria to the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, court to seek redress to the continuous detention of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Media and Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Mr. Emma Powerful, which was made available to Elevatenews on Wednesday.

Kanu is the founder of the Radio Biafra and has been in the custody since last year due to his agitation for the creation of Biafra Republic.

IPOB described in the statement that the detention of its leader was illegal, calling on the Muhammadu Buhari led government to release him without any condition.

The group also stated that the withdrawal of the trial judge, Justice John Tsoho from Kanu’s case was a tactical plan to extend the detention of the leader without any offence.

“We IPOB and Directorate of State, DOS, IPOB, have concluded plans to take the continued illegal detention of our leader and Director of Radio Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu to the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS Court,” it said.

The group alleged that Tsoho was government stooge and that his withdrawal from the case was a planned work with the government to punish Kanu.

Recalled the ECOWAS Court had asked the Federal Government to drop charges against the former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki, saying that the government was detaining him without justification.
