Northern Hunter And Lion Of Bourdillon
Nigeria News take a look at the Jabs by the Kaduna State Governor, Mallma Nasir El-Rufai on “godfatherism”.
The Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai must be pained, seeing the pictures of President Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Tinubu breaking the Ramadan fasting inside Aso Rock last weekend.
Tinubu is EL-Rufai’s new foe. And for that, El-Rufai will love Buhari to be the enemy of his enemy. The Kaduna State Governor threw the first jab when he took a fight to Tinubu’s domain to proffer solution to politics of “godfatherism” at the Bridge Club event in Lagos last week.
El-Rufai has accomplices in the Southwest too, some of whom are former Tinubu’s aides. He came to hunt the Lion of Bourdilon so that he can have a safe drive to Aso Rock in 2023.
Like a cowboy, El-Rufai rode away from Kaduna where he could not solve the crisis of banditry to solve a problem in Lagos. The bandits in Kaduna do not hunt a lion but human beings. They abduct, steal and kill.
While the residents of Kaduna cried for security, their governor was in Lagos to hunt a lion. The lion is yet to roar, but the cubs are growling to defend their father who lurks in Bourdilon, Ikoyi Lagos.
With barrage of attacks on the northern hunter, El-Rufai quickly rephrase his words. “I do not have apologies over my views on godfatherism but I do not view Tinubu as a godfather either.”
The hunter is known for his cunny life. With his cap in hands and with his closeness to the ground, he finds it convenient to stoop so low to anybody as a logic to climb the ladder of leadership.
He did for the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, then President Olusegun Obasanjo and later backstabbed them.
EL-Rufai was seeing regularly in Bourdillon on his way to becoming Kaduna governor. He needed a financier and backbone to stop the Kaduna mafia, which he eventually got from Tinubu.
However, it is not surprising that the Kaduna governor could come against Tinubu. He once described Buhari as a dullard who could not pass any examination as a Nigerian Army General.
But today he worships Buhari like god. The president must watch his back and be careful with such figure as El-Rufai.
It is on record today that El-Rufai came to politics through Atiku but contributed immensely to the political challenges of the former vice president when he acted as mole for Obasanjo against the man who introduced him to politics.
Anyway, Tinubu has not come out to signify his presidential ambition, his backing of Senator Ahmed Lawan for Senate presidency and Femi Gbajabiamila for the Speaker of House of Representatives is seeing by El-Rufai and many of his cronies as a plan for 2023 presidential ambition.
The ongoing scheming is a revelation that the political elites have no plan to solve the mammoth security and economic problems in the country but how to realise their selfish goals.
Buhari is yet to start his second term but the noise of who becomes the next president in 2023 is so loud that a hunter has to leave the north to hunt the Lion of Bourdillon in Lagos.
It is better now that El-Rufai has hit at Tinubu. The governor has only shown that he is not a good mentee, having betrayed all those that had helped him grow in politics.
