NUC APPROVES THE ESTABLISHMENT OF PROPOSED UNIVERSITY OF AFRICA, TORU-ORUA IN BAYELSA STATE

The National Universities Commission (NUC), has decided to approve the establishment of a new university in Bayelsa State.

The announcement was made in a press release issued by Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the Chief Press Secretary to the Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson on Saturday, July 30, 2016.

The tertiary institution will be named University of Africa, Toru-Orua, Bayelsa, and will be jointly funded through a public-private partnership, with the government providing the environment for the school to thrive as said by the governor.

The statement went on to say that the institution will be the first in the country to be established by the government with private sector involvement.

The governor further stated that he expects more private universities that will emulate the format of the University of Africa, Toru-Orua.
