Oba of Benin Warns Buhari Over Herdsmen Killings
The Oba of Benin, Omo N’oba N’edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to quickly find a lasting solution to the incessant attacks of innocent Nigerians by herdsmen.
He made this call during his visit to the palace of the Ooni of Ife, his imperial majesty, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, adding that Nigerians need peace but not war.
The monarch who also visited the Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola urged the governor to liaise with members of Nigeria’s Governors Forum to find a solution to the perennial killings by the herdsmen.
The Oba of Benin noted, “We learnt that the herdsmen menace has an international connection, Nigerians do not want to know anything about such, except that the Federal Government protects the citizens against these killings.”
This came as millions of Christians stormed the major cities in the country to protest against the activities of the herdsmen in some parts of Nigeria.
Christians in Kano want the government to declare herdsmen as terrorists while those in Taraba and Benue States said that they would against the election of President Muhammadu Buhari for the second term in office.
Meanwhile, the Osun State Governor, Aregbesola has said that he would convene the message of the Benin monarch to other governors.
