Offa Bank Robbery: Leave Saraki Alone, Go After The Real Culprits, Olofa Tells Police
The Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, Esuwoye II has called on the Nigeria Police to leave the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki alone and go after the real culprits of the bank robbery and killings in the town a few months ago.
He spoke through the Offa community High Chief, Bayo Akinola as the youths and women of the town trooped to the streets to protest the invitation of Saraki by the police for interrogation over the robbery.
The police said that a robbery suspect indicted Saraki and would like to hear from the Senate president.
Though the police had since soft-pedalled on the invitation as it directed Saraki to write his own angle of the case and send to the police headquarters.
Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, Esuwoye II, who is on Lesser Hajj, said the community has left “what has happened to God, but we don’t want the innocent to be punished. We want police to go after the real culprits.”
The youths who carried placards with various inscriptions, besieged the palace of Olofa, chanting chorus that the police should not politicize the robbery in Offa.
On their placards, they inscribed such words as, “Leave Saraki alone; don’t politicize Offa killings; Go after the real culprits.
