Our correspondent gathered that the unidentified truck was plying the popular Ojuelegba Bridge when the plywood it was carrying fell on four vehicles under the bridge, killing three occupants and injured two.
According to the General Manager of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr Adesina Tiamiyu, the truck was conveying a huge load of plywood when it swerved and poured its contents down the bridge.
He said that the truck was overloaded with plywood and the driver could not control it anymore when it got to the bridge.
“Three persons died, two people injured. Initially, two people died and after some time, one more person among those who are initially injured eventually died,” Tiamiyu said.
The LASMA boss said that the authorities received a call at about 8:30 pm on Tuesday and when the officers arrived the scene, it was discovered that the plywood had killed some people.
He noted that the truck did not fall off the bridge as reported by some online and social media platforms but that the contents actually came down the bridge.
“Three commercial buses popularly called “Danfo” and a Toyota Camry were affected,’ he said.
