One Killed, Four Abducted In Ondo
Unidentified gunmen have killed one person and abducted four others when they attacked a commercial vehicle along Owo-Ikare Expressway, in the Ose/Oba area of Ondo State.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Mr. Femi Joseph, confirmed this, adding that investigation had begun to apprehend the killers.
According to him, the hoodlums stopped the passengers that were travelling to Akure from Ikare. The hoodlums stopped their vehicles and ordered them to come down.
A source said that one of the passengers had resisted the hoodlums from dragging him out of the vehicle.
He was shot by the gunmen while four other passengers were taken away to unknown destination.
The crime was committed exactly at the spot where a traditional ruler, Oluyani of Iyani-Akoko, Oba Sunday Daodu, was kidnapped sometime ago.
The police explained that the kidnappers had since contacted families of their victims and demanded N1 million ransom on each of them.
The Oloba of Oba-Akoko, Oba Nurudeen Adegoroye, called for more police presence and establishment of another military checkpoint at black spots in Owo and Oba-Akoko.
