Ooni Of Ife Kicks Against Bloodletting
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has vehemently kicked against the incessant bloodletting in the country, calling all ethnic nationalities to embrace peace and unite as one.
The foremost Yoruba king said this at a conference on African origins tagged: ‘New scientific evidence on origins of Nigerian peoples’, in Lagos on Wednesday, describing the killings in some parts of the country as senseless and barbaric.
The event was organised by Adulawo media in conjunction with the Royal House of Oduduwa and Genetics Society of Nigeria.
Ooni called for peace, saying that little misunderstanding among Nigerians should not lead to bloodletting but should strengthen unity.
As he put it “we are all brothers and sisters and cannot afford to be divided; we need to embrace one another and put end to the incessant killings across the country.”
He is of the view that the generation unborn will salute the courage of the present generation if only there is peace and unity among all the ethnic nations that make Nigeria.
The monarch queried, “Why are we killing ourselves. We are all brothers and sisters, yet we kill ourselves. What for? This must stop. Enough is enough. Enough of this bloodletting,” the monarch said.
