Osinbajo To Supervise Obono-Obla As Buhari Reverses His Suspension
Vice President Yemi Osnbajo will now supervise the works of the Chairman of Special Investigation Panel on Recovery of Public Property Okoi Obono-Obla.
He was suspended last week by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami (SAN) for overstepping his official functions.
However, Obono-Obla was able to explain himself to Vice President Osinbajo, whom of course intervened in the matter that eventually led to the reverse of his suspension.
A source told our correspondent that Osinbajo met with President Buhari where it was concluded that Obono-Obla should be restored to his post but with slight changes in his mode of operation.
“Henceforth Obono-Obla will operate under the shadow of the Vice President, who will supervise his work,” according to the source.
The source said that Obono-Obla would be taking directives from the Presidency or the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, working strictly on directives or cases referred to him by the Presidency or the AGF and not embarking on ‘expansionist’ search for materials to use under the guise of recovery of public property.
The source stated that Obono-Obla is not expected to go outside the scope of what is given to him by his bosses and must strictly adhere to the rules and regulations of the position is holding.
