The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has kicked against the reinstatement of the suspended Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Prof. Usman Yusuf.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan said in a statement made available to our correspondent that the reinstatement of Yusuf who is under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC negates the anti-corruption crusade of President Muhammadu Buhari.
President Muhammadu Buhari reinstated Yusuf despite being investigated over N919 million pension fraud.
He had earlier been indicted and suspended by the committee set up by the Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole.
The PDP statement noted that the reinstatement made the Buhari government stinks of corruption.
“This government has lost all claim of fighting graft, as long as it continues to protect alleged indicted officials of the administration,” the statement read.
The Health Ministry Committee’s report indicted Yusuf over abuse of office and fraud. The report also stated that the NHIS boss portrayed himself as holier than thou while he had continued to perpetrate fraud through procurement.
However, the Federal Government explained on Wednesday, February 7 that the reinstatement of Prof. Yusuf would not stop EFCC from continuing its investigation.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said this.
