Plot To Stop Tinubu In 2023 Begins

By  |

ElevateNews takes a look at the query given to FIRS boss, Babatunde Fowler and its implication on Bola Tinubu’s ambition.

The job of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari is more than managing the activities and programmes of Mr. President but also to plot his control of government beyond this tenure.

Facts are being revealed that the cronies of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in Buhari’s government will be checked as time goes on.

Kyari and other Mafias in this government will do that job and it has begun now. During the retreat for the new and returning ministers, Buhari said that any minister who wishes to see him must pass through Kyari.

This might not be out of place anyway but the recent query of the DirectorGeneral of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Mr. Babatunde Fowler by Kyari is a signal of what to expect in a few months to come.

Fowler was Tinubu’s former commissioner for Budgets in Lagos. How he got to the present position was not behind Tinubu.

Although he has cleared the air over the query from Kyari that the presidency was only asking him to shed light on why the revenue had dropped in recent time.

To Fowler, a query is a letter given to a subordinate who had committed an offence but in his own case, he had not committed any offence and did not see the letter from the presidency as a query.

But in the real sense of it, Fowler had been questioned and he had answered.

In 2018, FIRS recorded the highest revenue in the history of revenue generation in the country with N5.32 trillion out of which 54 per cent of it came from the non-oil sector.

The remaining 46 per cent from the oil sector. Before then, the oil sector has always generated the highest revenue.

However, FIRS has not been able to meet its N8 trillion target despite the rigorous campaign on tax and VAT.

In his explanation, Fowler said that there was a drop in revenue generated because FIRS had no absolute control on oil revenue.

This is where the problem is. Investigation revealed that FIRS played a major role in the election of APC in 2019 presidential poll.

The oil sector is a no go area, except the president and Kyari. To the presidency, it is like Fowler is indirectly querying the president who doubles as the Minister of Petroleum on what has happened to the oil revenue.

In other hand, the presidency is suspicious that Fowler might be saving some funds for his former boss, Tinubu ahead of 2023 poll.

Fowler may be removed as FIRS boss for indicting the oil sector in his failure to make more revenue.

The presidency made a U-turn that it never query Fowler but fresh facts have emerged that the FIRS boss may be on his way out because the cabals are not comfortable with him anymore.
