Police Arrest Man 45 for Operating Illegal Blood Bank
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Mr Achebulu Paul for operating an unregistered blood bank located at No. 18, Kusa Street, Bariga Somolu, Lagos.
He was alleged to have lured a seventeen-year-old boy, Ayomide Adesanya, and drained four pints of blood from him.
Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal who led his men to arrest Paul said that the suspect usually sold the blood of his victims.
“The suspect sells the blood to various clinics around Somolu and beyond,” Edgal said.
He was said to have collected blood from children there for sale to some clinics.
About seven pints of blood were recovered from the suspect. According to findings, the suspect had been doing this illegal work until June 10 when one of his victims, a 17-year-old Ayomide Adesanya passed out after his blood was drained.
He was said to have earlier drawn two pints of blood from the same victim on June 4. The suspect reportedly gave the victim N2, 000 on each occasion.
The suspect had since confessed of selling a pint of blood for N7, 000 to clinics. The police said that the suspect is cooperating and will definitely show them the culpable clinics.
