Police Arrest Prophet ‘Eri Imole’ For Rituals
A disfigured body of a seven-year-old boy, Kazeem Rafiu, was discovered at a Church building, yesterday, in Odokekere area of Ikorodu, Ogun State.
A man who pretends to be a prophet, identified as Eri Imole, a family friend to the Kazeem’s parents, had established a white garment church about two months ago in the area.
Kazeem’s body was reportedly found in the Church’s uncompleted building.
The boy’s mother, Mrs Tawakalitu Rafiu, had left the boy and his five siblings in the care of a co-tenant at their residence, at Sotunyo Street, Soso Bus Stop on Wednesday.
She returned later in the day but could not find Kazeem. It was learnt that the self-acclaimed pastor had lured the boy to his church. Unknown to the prophet, one of the boy’s siblings saw him taking Kazeem away.
The case was reported to the Community Development Authority, CDA, which ordered the local vigilante to arrest the fake prophet.
Following his arrest, the suspected ritualist confessed selling the boy’s body part to his partner for N130, 000, adding that the boy would be used for rituals at First Gate area of Ikorodu by 4a.m.
With the information, Armed Operatives from Ogijo Division were invited to the location, but they did not arrive until 4.05a.m.
One of the accomplice, Adedoyin Oyekanmi was then arrested and he confessed that the body was in the prophet’s custody at Oju-Odo.
Speaking, an eyewitness, Madam Idiat Akani, said the Police visited the uncompleted church only to discover that the head had been buried in a shallow grave within the Church’s uncompleted building, while other parts of the body were packed in a polythene bag.
“Then she added that the head was later exhumed and taken to the station with the disfigured parts.
However, a senior police officer, Mr. Famous-Cole, told reporters that the suspects confessed to the murder of the boy, saying they belonged to a group of ritualists and that their members are all over Ikorodu.
