Police Foil Three Suicide Attacks in Bama
The attempt by Boko Haram insurgents to bomb some communities in Bama Local Government Area of Borno state have been foiled by the police.
This was contained in a statement by the state Police Command in which the insurgents were neutralized by the Nigeria troops before getting to targets on Monday.
This is coming barely 24 hours after two suicide bombers, male and female attacked worshippers in a Bama mosque which left 7 people dead including the bombers, with 10 other people injured.
Bama is about 70km to Maiduguri, the state capital and it is also the place where the camp of the Internal Displaced Persons, IDP is located.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edet Okon said that the troops intercepted the three suicide bombers while on their way to infiltrate Bama town through Ajilari area.
“They were sighted and challenged by security operatives at guard location. “The bombers hurriedly detonated the Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs strapped to their bodies killing themselves only.
Reacting, the Commissioner of Police Borno State, CP Damian Chukwu urged the residents to be more vigilant, adding that the police would not relent in providing the necessary security as required by the communities.
