Police Re-arrest Melaye’s Accusers
Three of the six suspects who accused Senator Dino Melaye over illegal possession of arms but escaped from custody had been rearrested by the police.
The outgoing Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Ali Janga confirmed this but directed journalists to speak with the incoming commissioner for details.
Janga who could not disclose the names of the suspects that were rearrested said that the new commissioner was in the position to do that.
Meanwhile, the new commissioner had not assumed duty.
Janga said, “Yes, it is confirmed, but note that I am no longer the CP, I have been removed, so next time talk to the new CP.”
The suspects were rearrested at an undisclosed place on Friday. A police source said that two of them sustained gunshot wounds because they wanted to run away.
They were said to be receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, as of the time of filing this report.
However, Melaye had vowed to sue the Inspector General of Police if the six suspects are not produced, dead or alive.
