PORT HARCOURT HOSTS 2016 AMAA AWARDS

The annual African Movies Academy Awards held yesterday in Port Harcourt at the prestigious Dr. Obi Wali Cultural Centre and it was a well attended event.

A number of expected awards were given out with Daniel K. Daniel who picked the gong for best actor at the African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA), also doing the same here for the AMAA’s.

Olu Jacobs, Joke Silva and Richard Mofe Damijo were given lifetime awards, while the movie ‘DRY’ by Stephanie Linus won the best Nigerian movie.

Greg Odutayo picked the award for best first feature length by a director with his masterpiece ‘BEYOND BLOOD’

The ceremony however will also be remembered for other reasons as there was a power outage for about 20 mins and it sent the internet into a mini meltdown with jokes and cries of dismay coming out from attendees and the viewing public.

The full list of winners can be accessed at the AMAA website.
