Pregnant, Kidnapped Woman Dies After Caesarian

A yet to be identified kidnapped woman has died after given birth to a baby at a private hospital along Lagos Badagry Expressway at the weekend.

Our correspondent learnt that the woman was kidnapped by a gang of hoodlums who were travelling from Cotonou to Lagos in a car with the number plate, KTU 356 CE.

It was gathered that the pregnant woman had boarded the car going to Lagos but trouble began when the suspects brought out a gun demanding for her valuables, including money.

The woman had raised the alarm, which made motorists and passersby to pursue the car but they could not catch up.

However, luck ran out of the suspects when they were stopped by the officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps along the road.

According to the FRSC Badagry Unit Commander, Fatai Bakare, the victim and the suspects were in a brawl when the vehicle was stopped.

“When we checked, we found out that they were kidnappers and the woman was already in serious pains. We quickly rushed her to a nearby hospital where Caesarian was carried out on her. The woman gave birth to the baby but died thereafter,” Bakare said.

However, the culprits had been arrested and handed over to the police.
