Produce Criminals Who Killed Nigerians, Okogie Tells Buhari
Catholic Archbishop Emeritus of Lagos Archdiocese, Anthony Cardinal Okogie has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to produce all the criminals who have been killing innocent Nigerians.
He made this call in a press statement made available to journalists tagged, “Where are the criminals? What a nation”, urging the president to concentrate on security instead of scheming for the second term.
Okogie stated that at this period in the country, what is required of Buhari is how to provide adequate security instead of 2019 election.
“What is important now is security and that should be the focus of the government. Where are the criminals that killed Nigerians in Benue, Taraba and Adamawa,” he queried.
Okogie’s memo queried the activities of the country security agencies as demanded from them the identities of the criminals but not the stories of their killings.
He posited that the issue of security is more important than any election now, adding, “it is by far more important than getting elected or re-elected in 2019.”
As he put it, “Everyone is talking about crime. Tell me, who are the criminals?”
In the last few years, there have been kidnappings, killings and now it has gone to herdsmen attacking many parts of the country, yet the government cannot do anything to address the situation.
