PVC Cannot Be Cloned, INEC Boss Says

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission Professor Mahmood Yakubu says it is impossible to clone Permanent Voters Cards or pre-load its Smart Card Readers.

This comes just forty-eight hours after the Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose accused the Commission’s officials of a plot to rig the polls in favour of an opposition candidate during the July fourteenth governorship election.

Professor Yakubu was speaking On Wednesday at the second Consultative meeting of twenty eighteen with political parties in Abuja.

He also said the Commission has tracked down outfits advertising the sale of Permanent Voter Cards on the internet.

The commission raised the alarm a few days ago that a platform was trying to clone the PVC but could not do so.

INEC said that he had involved law enforcement agents to be at alert so as to foil any attempt by internet fraudster to clone the PVC.

Meanwhile, there are millions of PVC at the various INEC offices across the country that are yet to be collected by the owners.

Mahmood urged the electorate to visit the INEC zonal offices, local government areas to pick their PVC as the country prepares for the 2019 general election.
