Record Breaking Night as Manchester City Defeat Monaco 5-3
The champions league saw the most interesting match of the season so far as a hugely entertaining fixture where all caution was thrown to the wind ended in an 8 goal fest, as Manchester City defeated Monaco by 5 goals to 3.
Manchester city took the lead via a Raheem Sterling effort in the 26th-minute after fine work by Leroy Sane but Monaco didn’t just lie low with two goals in the first half to turn the tie on its head.
Radamel Falcao, a player reborn since he went back to France scores with a diving header to equalize and then Kylian Mbappe’s scored a powerful rising drive to put Monaco in the driving seat.
This was just a taste of things to come as after the restart, Falcao missed a penalty and a chance to make the scores 3-1 just before Monaco keeper Danijel Subasic committed a blunder that gave Sergio Aguero his first goal.
Falcao put Monaco ahead with the best goal of the night, a chipped effort that was a beauty to behold before Manchester City equalized for the second time as Aguero volleyed in from close range.
John stones and Leroy Sane scored the goals to bring an end to an excellent match with Pep stating that the tie isn’t a forgone conclusion as they would have to score to avoid elimination in the second leg.
