Reinstate Babachir Now, APC Tells Buhari
The Adamawa State All Progressives Congress, APC has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to reinstate the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Engineer Babachir Lawal.
The party members unanimously agreed that Lawal should be reinstated if he is not found guilty by the investigative panel set up to consider allegations of financial misappropriation levelled against him.
The Party stakeholders posited that there is no need delaying announcement of the panel’s findings submitted months ago.
According to the party stakeholders, the state is negatively affected by the development and asks the federal government to act according to the submission made by the panel.
Lawal was suspended by the panel headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo a few months ago over an allegation that the suspended SGF diverted over N300 million into the account of a company where he is a director.
The investigation revealed that the fund was part of the money appropriated for the welfare of the Internally Displaced Persons but was diverted by Lawal for grass cutting project.
However, since the government suspended Lawal and another public office holder, Ambassador Ayo Oke who was the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, nothing had been heard about whether they would be prosecuted or not.
Oke was alleged to have stashed about N13 billion in different currencies at an Ikoyi residence.
