Saraki Addresses World Press Conference, Commends Osinbajo, Condemns Invasion of NASS By DSS
President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki has commended the bravery of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for sacking the Director General of the Department of State Service.
Saraki who led other principal officers of the National Assembly to the press conference condemned the barricade of the National Assembly by the DSS operatives on Tuesday, describing it as an act of “gangsterism”.
He said that the legislature would not accept such a high level of “gangsterism” that had turned Nigeria into a centre of shame for the outside world to see.
He bemoaned a situation where the security operatives prevented the senators and members of the House of Representatives from accessing their offices at the NASS complex.
“The National Assembly, the seat of democracy in Nigeria, was under lockdown. Senators and Members of the House of Representatives were prevented from gaining access.”
Saraki explained that what happened on Tuesday was not about him neither was it about Ike Ekweremadu nor the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara but about the soul of Nigeria and democracy.
“This is disheartening and very dangerous for democracy,” Saraki said.
