Nigeria News – Saraki Advises SERAP Over Alleged Plans To Increase Senators’ Allowance
Bukola Saraki, the Senate President has reacted to claims by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) that he proposes to increase Nigerian senators’ salaries.
In a statement on its Twitter Page, SERAP raised the alarm over alleged plans by Bukola Saraki, the Senate President to increase Nigerian senators’ salaries to N15m.
The Senate President, in his reaction, in a statement by Olu Onemola, his Special Assistant on New Media, described the allegation as untrue.
He asked SERAP to get its fact right.
The statement reads, “Dear @SERAPNigeria, there is no such “alleged decision” to increase the allowances of Senators. An organization like yours needs to be more careful, especially when pushing out information meant for public consumption. Thank you.
“To avoid any doubt: there is no plan to amend the allowances of Senators. The tweet by @SERAPNigeria is baseless and untrue. The public should disregard this ENTIRELY.”
