Segun Odegbami Declares For Ogun Governorship Race
Former captain of the Super Eagles, Chief Segun Odegbami has declared his intention to run for the governorship position in Ogun State.
He made his ambition known at a news conference in Abeokuta on Thursday, adding that his government would focus on health and education if voted in.
Odegbami who is running on the platform of Labour Party said this is the time to redirect the state towards a more prosperous route and that he would be ready to be the driver.
He explained that the health and education sectors would be prioritized and that hospitals would be built where necessary and basic facilities for quality education would be provided.
Odegbami, one of the Nigeria best wingers was nicknamed “Mathematical Segun Odegbami” in his days with the Green Eagles. He later captained the senior national football team before he retired.
He contested on a few occasion for the chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation but failed to clinch the slot. He had also contested for the position of FIFA president.
He noted at the news conference the fallen standard of education, adding that the Ogun State Government under Labour Party would change the face of education for better.
