Shehu Sani Makes Case For Military
Senator Shehu Sani, representing Kaduna Central has called on the Federal Government to give maximum support in reinforcing and equipping the country’s military.
He said this when the service chiefs appeared at the plenary on Wednesday, describing as revealing the various issues brought by the service chiefs to the Senate.
“It’s resolved that we give them all the necessary parliamentary support and consideration for increased funding, to enable them to reinforce and equip their agencies in order to succeed,” Sani said.
According to Sani, the Senate is appealing to President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently fund and equip the Army, the Police, DSS and the Civil Defence to enable them to combat the bandits and protect the people of Nigeria.
He mentioned Birnin Gwari LG, Kaduna state, adding that many residents of the place had been killed by bandits. “This is the time to end the bloodshed and the kidnappings. The Bandits have the superior firepower for now,” he said.
He kicked against a serving governor for mocking and belittling the mass killings and burial of innocent poor people going on in the country and without condemnation by the elites.
He stated that it is advisable for the poor to learn to reserve their tears only for when tragedy befalls their kind. The nationwide peaceful procession by the Catholic faithful over the killings in the country is a welcome development. Such a momentum is needed to recharge our conscience and propel an action. The nation must not lose its sense of outrage against an execrable and abhorrent evil.”
