Shehu Sani’s View On Return of Omo-Agege
Following the nullification of the Senate suspension of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege by a High Court in Abuja, another senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has saluted the development.
Though the Senate had filed an appeal, Omo-Agege said that would not stop him from resuming for plenary on Tuesday.
Reacting, Sani said, “Disobeying court orders is resistance to the rule of law. We desecrate democracy each time we defy the courts. Every step away from the law is a step towards tyranny. The tower of justice stands on the rock of the rule of law. Liberty is guaranteed when the constitution is respected.”
Sani explained that he was of the view and would insist that the senate should respect the court order given in respect of the suspended Senator, to set a standard for respect for rule of Law and to challenge the executives and all security agencies to also respect all court orders pending before them.
On integrity, which has become the only parameter to measure President Muhammadu Buhari irrespective of the bad economic indices, Sani said that there are many Nigerians who equally have integrity.
As he put it, “As a man born in Kaduna where PMB lived, I can attest to his history of honesty and moral uprightness but there are other Nigerians who are equally upright; Yakubu Gowon, Adamu Ciroma, Balarabe Musa, Usman Jibrin, Yohanna Madaki, Aliyu Jamaa etc. We have good people in our country everywhere.”
