Super Eagles Move up to 50th in Latest FIFA Rankings
In the latest rankings released Thursday 24 November by the world football governing body, FIFA, Nigeria have moved up 10 places from 60th in the world to 50th.
The position is a joint one which is held with Burkina Faso who also enjoyed a massive improvement, moving up 17 places in the monthly rankings.
The points total accrued to the super eagles has also improved with the total now at 616 which is up from 562 in the month under review.
A major factor that contributed to the rise of the super eagles is the recent 3-1 win over Algeria and 2-1 away victory over Zambia in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers which have given Nigeria a perfect start in the African zone for the 2018 world cup.
This has resulted in the eagles being ranked as sixth in the continent also with Burkina Faso after being out of the top 10 for a long time.
Senegal are the number one team in Africa and are 33rd in the world.
Cameroon, has dropped six places from 59th to 65th position, while Algeria dropped from 35th to 38th, and Zambia moved up from 94th to 91st.
Argentina still remain the number one team in the world with Brazil moving one spot to second place after demolishing Argentina 3-0 during their qualification match.
World champions Germany is in third position dropping one place while Chile is fourth and Belgium is in fifth position.
