The Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities will join their counterpart the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in the ongoing strike action on Monday.

The President of SSANU Samson Ugwoke who is also the Chairman of Joint Action Committee for the unions said this at a news conference in Abuja on Monday.

He said that all the unions, including the National Association of Academic Technologists had resolved to join ASUU in the indefinite strike on September 11.

Ugwoke, said that the union would be going on strike due to the failure of the Federal Government to implement the Memorandum of Understanding it signed with them after a five-day warning strike in January 2017.

According to him, the unions had waited endlessly for the government to take action but nothing was done.

“We do not have any other option than to commence strike on Monday,” he said.

He stressed that 95 per cent of the members of the union voted for the strike to await meaningful dialogue from the government.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government and ASUU are yet to resolve their matter over unpaid salary and allowance.
