Super Eagles Get Emmanuel’s $50,000
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have received $50, 000 from Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State for beating Cameroon national team, the indomitable lions 4-0 and played 1-1 in Yaounde in September.
The governor had promised $10, 000 per goal in the two matches, which resulted in Nigerian lads scoring five goals.
As the Super Eagles prepare to face the Chipolopolo of Zambia in a do-or-die match on Saturday, Emmanuel urged them to play like soldiers.
The match will be playing in Uyo, Akwa Ibom capital and a draw will see Nigeria through to the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Nigeria is topping the group with 10 points while Zambia has seven points and will be playing the match of their lives to beat Nigeria in Uyo.
Nigeria had qualified for five world cup and are seeking the sixth against Zambia that had never feature in the tournament before.
Emmanuel said, “I know you have the quality to overcome in this important match, but I don’t want you to underrate your opponents.”
He commended the players for their professional conduct they had displayed since the qualifying series began last year.
Nigeria beat Zambia in the first leg by 2-1. The two players that scored the goals, Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi are also in Super Eagles camp to repeat the tricks that sealed the victory for them last year.
