The senior football national team of Nigeria, the Super Eagles are set to make a record in Yaoundé, Cameroon today as they face the Indomitable Lions in a world cup qualifier.

If the Eagles can win in Yaoundé by 6pm today, Monday September 4, history will be made that the country qualifies for the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup with two matches yet to play.

In a scintillating first leg of the two headers played in Uyo Cross River State on Friday, the eagles thrashed the lions by 4-0, gathering nine points in three matches.

The victory heralded wild jubilation among football lovers with the belief that Nigeria could qualify for the Russia 2018 World Cup today.

Goals scored by Odion Ighalo, John Mikel Obi, Victor Moses and Kelechi Iheanacho sealed the victory for the experienced eagles on Friday.

In Cameroon, findings showed that the football fans were dejected but they still had hope in the indomitable spirits of the current African Champions who are third on the log.

Cameroon’s hope of getting to the world cup became dicey after the 0-4 drub by the Eagles. Having drawn two and lost one of the three previous matches, Cameroon have just two points.

Zambia is second on the table with four points while Algeria is having just one point.

Report shows that there is apprehension in Yaoundé as the football body in the country seeks ways to cage the Super Eagles who are desperate to make history today.

According to the Captain of the Super Eagles, Mikel Obi, the players are ready and they will finish the job they have started on a good note today.
