Tanker Kills Man In His Hyundai Car in Ikorodu

A 33,000 Litre petrol tanker crashed on an Hyundai car marked KJA-421-AH and killed the driver in Ikorodu on Sunday.

The driver of the tanker marked AGL-664-XG, belonging to Forte Oil spilled, according to eyewitness lost control while trying to make a turn at the Ikorodu Round About.

It fell on the Hyundai at about 2:30 am and killed the driver instantly.

According to the police, there was nobody around at the time the crime was committed. The tanker driver ran away, abandoning the vehicle when he sensed that he had killed a person.

While the tanker was being evacuated this morning by the officers of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), they discovered a dead body in the Hyundai.

The body was evacuated and taken to Ikorodu General Hospital Mortuary, LASEMA General Manager Adesina Tiamiyu said this.

However, it took the prompt response of the National Emergency Management Authority NEMA to prevent the content of the tanker from leading to inferno in the busy area of Ikorodu.

According to spokesman of NEMA Ibrahim Farinloye,“The truck was carefully lifted upright, while the dead body was extricated with the use of light duty equipment.”

He warned motorists to be careful when driving on the road, especially while driving beside articulated vehicles. He also called on tanker drivers to be more cautious when plying the highways.
