Taribo Believes Super Eagles Can Do Well At The World Cup
Former Super Eagles Defender, Taribo West is of the view that the Super Eagles can do well at the coming 2018 World Cup in Russia.
He said this during an exclusive interview with our correspondent, adding that the team’s strength is in the average age of the players.
He said that though the Super Eagles are the underdog in their group, which comprised Argentina, Croatia and Iceland, the team could surprise the world at the Mundial by qualifying from that group.
The former Inter Milan defender noted that many of the Nigeria internationals were not playing for big clubs and that there was no outstanding player among them as it was in the USA 94 squad, the team spirit could help the lads. ‘They are the youngest team and I think this can work for them positively,” Taribo added.
He explained that nobody should expect a miracle but surprises do happen in football. “They are the underdogs in their group. They are also one of the youngest teams at the World Cup – that is an advantage on their side. They are young, with young legs and will outrun anybody. That will make them a great revelation for Nigeria and the entire African continent,” he said.
