The Sacrificial Lamb And The Sacred Cow
Nigeria News takes a look at how the ruling APC has been handling crime suspects within and outside its caucus.
You do not need to be a criminal to be prosecuted in Nigeria of today. What makes you a criminal is belonging to an opposition party. And if you happen to be an aggrieved member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, you may face prosecution.
In other words, if you are a suspect of crime but very loyal to the APC and of course President Muhammadu, your sins are easily forgiven. You become pious because of the broom in your hand. Yes, the APC brooms sweep away your sins.
Each time I think of how the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami colluded to reinstate the former Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Pension Reform, Abdulrasheed Maina into civil service, I ask if the present administration is truly fighting corruption.
It was obvious that Malami singlehandedly brought back Maina from exile after he had been declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for alleged fraud and reinstated him to the position of Acting Director at the Ministry of Interior.
It is sad today that Malami still holds the highest office of the country’s Ministry of Justice while Maina had been dismissed by Buhari.
There are many atrocities traceable to Malami, yet President Muhammadu Buhari with the APC broom swept all under the carpet.
Just a few weeks ago, the case of the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun broke out that the woman had been using a fake certificate of Exemption by the National Youths Service Corps. Adeosun has kept mute. She has refused to reply to clear herself of the allegation.
Her boss, President Buhari would not say a word over the issue. The APC, as a party and the executive arm of government, have been very busy with how to erase its members that are not loyal to them.
The police, EFCC, Department of State Service are very busy now to chase out the enemies of government as the criminals among the executives and the lawmakers that are loyal to Buhari are being treated with deodorant.
In Osun, a senator representing the Osun Central Senatorial District just won the governorship ticket on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ademola Adeleke. The noise that he lacked the primary school certificate has been so loud.
The PDP candidate has been charged to court by the Osun State High Court. As a matter of urgency, the court has asked Adeleke to produce his certificate within one week.
He is a sacrificial lamb in the fight against corruption cum certificate scandal. Nobody dares sue Adeosun over fake NYSC exemption letter. For now that she is a member of APC and in Buhari’s cabinet, Adeosun is a sacred cow.
Just like the Meyatti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, the umbrella body of the herdsmen has been so sacred and untouchable, the hooligans in Buhari’s cabinet are saints today.
But for the President of the Senate Bukola Saraki, he is a big suspect not only because he is alleged to be involved in the Offa bank robbery but because he is not loyal to Buhari’s government. He is a sacrificial lamb.
