The Trial of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole
Nigeria News takes a look at the probe of the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole by the DSS
Adam, the Biblical hero was a mortal. He died long ago and so we die. The earth is made for the fallen man and so it houses no saint but sinners. The scripture says that all our righteousness is still like filthy rags before God.
I have suddenly become a pastor so as to address the insanity of Saint Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who enjoyed immunity for eight years as the Governor of Edo State despite myriads of allegations of corruption against him.
One Bishop Osadolor Ochei, a social crusader had severally challenged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the court for refusing to treat his petition on alleged diversion of public funds by Oshiomhole.
Ochei’s thought was that Oshiomhole would land in EFCC after his tenure but instead, the governor’s impunity and immunity continued.
Unlike the former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose whose home was barricaded immediately after his tenure by the operatives of the EFCC, Oshimhole was freer despite allegations.
He rose to become the National Chairman of the APC, a few years after even though he had corruption allegations against him with the EFCC.
Perhaps, Oshiomhole has forgotten, despite his strategic intelligence, that there are moles within his circle who know more of his secrets and can always reveal it.
That, if EFCC will not probe Oshiomhole’s alleged financial recklessness as a governor, his pasts will not be isolated from the present position that he holds.
Oshiomhole’s voluble life is more reflective as a national leader of the ruling APC during the party’s primaries in which he demonstrated such a dictatorial tendency that is causing the ripple in the party now.
His crude approach to issues, insensitivity to the protest by some state governors on the platform of the party who feel cheated during the primaries and his over-dependency on President Muhammadu Buhari are some of the factors that will definitely pull Oshiomhole down from the party’s chairmanship seat.
The raging governors have begun to play the game from the backend and it seems Oshiomhole is beginning to feel the burn.
Last Sunday, Oshiomhole was locked up by the operatives of the Department of the Security Service and grilled over the allegation of bribery. The former Edo State Governor was alleged to have taken bribes from some APC candidates during the primaries with pieces of evidence already submitted to the DSS by the aggrieved governors.
On Wednesday, Oshiomhole resumed at DSS again where he was advised to resign, following arrays of pieces of evidence before it. The DSS, according to the Director-General Yusuf Bichi had informed President Muhammadu Buhari about the move to grill Oshiomhole over bribery allegation and had been given the go-ahead to do so.
Oshiomhole, who had earlier denied the allegation, said that he would not resign unless he had lost the confidence of President Buhari. He told the DSS operatives that he carried the president along while the primaries were being conducted.
But one may quickly ask if Oshimhole tell the president that some candidates induced him with bribes and could not resist it? He had since travelled out of the country as DSS awaits his return for more grilling.
