There Are Danger Signs Ahead 2019 Election – Jega
Former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Committee, Professor Attahiru Jega said on Monday that there are danger signs ahead 2019 election.
He said this at a democracy lecture to mark Democracy Day, adding that the flaws and agitation during the recent congresses by the All Progressives Congress, APC across the states were negative signs ahead 2019 election.
The professor noted that the INEC is presently battling with some logistics, which must be sorted out before the 2019 election.
He called on the security organs to work assiduously and bring their professionalism to play as the 2019 election draws closer.
Jega explained that the challenges in the various political parties, in which they could not organize peaceful internal polls could spell doom when the larger election is organized in 2019.
“How do you handle rival political parties with civility if you cannot hold a peaceful internal congress,” Jega queried.
He said that God saved the country from the constitutional crisis in 2015 general election, saying the present signs are pointing towards such again and INEC must prepare to handle the situation.
Jega prays that the 2019 polls are conducted fair, free and peaceful.
