Tinubu, Bakare And The Scheming For 2023 Presidency
ElevateNews takes a look at the scheming of who becomes Nigeria president in 2023.
Founder and Pastor of the Latter Rain Assembly, Tunde Bakare is making real his presidential ambition by his moves in recent times.
The fiery lawyer and pastor took a daring step to the presidential villa, Abuja last week where he told President Muhammadu Buhari to influence who would succeed him in 2023.
He advised the president who is his personal friend and former presidential running mate not to hand over to a looter while leaving in 2023.
Bakare had not told us how he would become Nigeria president but he had revealed to the nation that after Buhari he is the next to rule.
When the rumour of a frosty relationship between the president and his vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo hit the airwave a few months ago, Bakare quickly prophesied that his time had come. He predicted that he might replace Osinbajo as soon as the vice president was impeached.
As the conveyor of fake news hit an obstacle, Bakare thought the best thing to do was to visit Buhari, perhaps to remind the president of his ambition not necessarily about those that could succeed him.
Telling the president to influence the 2023 election sounds so undemocratic from someone who prides himself as a Democrat and priest of God.
Sensing the danger in Bakare’s advice, the presidency through the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina swiftly reacted, saying that Buhari would not influence who becomes the next Nigerian president but the electorate who have the power through their votes to do so.
A week after Bakare’s visit to the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu drove to Buhari’s office in pretence to felicitate the New Year with him but was ambushed by State house correspondents who queried him about the plan of the APC to zone the 2023 presidency to the Southwest.
They also questioned him about who could eventually emerge as the party presidential flag bearer.
Responding, Tinubu said it is quite too early to begin to deliberate about 2023 presidential poll when the present administration had just started its second term in office.
He explained that whosoever that is insinuating anything about the next election now is an enemy of the country and should not be taken seriously.
Of course, Tinubu never mentioned names but it was obvious he was referring to Bakare whose concerns have been about who rules after Buhari.
Bakare once called out Tinubu, using innuendos to describe the former Governor of Lagos as fool that must account for all he had allegedly stolen from the nation.
At no time has Tinubu ever replied Bakare over this grave allegation. Bakare has all the rights to contest but on which platform and structure?
His current moves show desperation and fear that Tinubu might become the next Nigerian president.
He makes much noise against the one called Lion of Bourdillon, yet Tinubu’s tentacles are growing wider.
