Tragedy As Medical Doctor Dies After Watching Nigeria, Argentina Match
A tragedy occurred in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State on Tuesday when a medical doctor, Dr Kennis Ebirim with the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki (FETHA) died after watching the match between Nigeria and Argentina at the ongoing Fifa World Cup in Russia.
It was gathered that Ebirim slumped after the Super Eagles’ defeat and was rushed to the hospital but never made it.
Members of the deceased family who live in Owerri, Imo State said that he gave up the ghost shortly after he was rushed to the hospital.
Confirming the sad news, the deceased younger brother, one Dr Chikere Ebirim, a lecturer in the Department of Public Health, Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), said that his bother slumped after the match.
He said: “We were together on Sunday with my dad. He used to have cases of a heart attack but he was also on medication. This is so shocking because he was sound in health when he left Owerri on Monday morning for Abakaliki where he works,” the younger brother lamented.
Argentina defeated Nigeria by 2-1 in a match that would have seen the Super Eagles to the second round of the competition.
