A trailer has crushed two teachers of the Local Authority Primary School, Igbatoro/Familugba Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The teachers were Pastor Sunday Ajenifuja and a head teacher, Pastor Oluwajuwon Adebayo.
Sources said that they were crushed to death by the trailer at lpele Junction in Owo Council Area of the state at about 11 am while waiting for a bus that would convey them to their school.
According to eyewitnesses, the teachers usually passed through an alternate route of Owo-Ifon-Okeluse in Ose council area to their school due to the bad portion of Akure-Owo Road.
“The alternative route links Familugba/Igbatoro in another council area of Akure North,” the source said.
The source stated that the driver of the trailer identified as Juwon Ariyibi rammed into the teachers while trying to avoid a pothole on the road.
They were reportedly rushed by some good Samaritans and villagers to the Federal Medical Centre in Owo, but they died on the way.
The Education Secretary for Akure North council area, Mr Samuel Olowere who confirmed the incident told our correspondent that the teachers were the only one in the school and now nobody was in the school to teach the pupils.
