Two Die As Abia Gov’s Wife Convoy Involves In Auto Crash
Two persons, including Mrs Nwamaka Maduchukwu a Senior Special Assistant on Media to Wife of the Abia State Governor and Mrs Promise Uche-Nwamkpa, wife of a former member of the Abia State House of Assembly have died in an auto crash involving the convoy of the state first lady.
The first lady Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu’s convoy was involved in an accident while returning to Umuahia from Ntigha-Uzor in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia.
The governor’s wife was coming from a burial when one of the vehicles in the convoy, a Hummer carrying the deceased somersaulted thrice as the driver attempted to overtake a vehicle at Ndiolumbe around 5 p.m.
It was gathered that the driver was at a high speed and could not control the vehicle anymore as it started to somersault, leaving two persons dead.
“I found myself on a field along the road after the vehicle landed at a spot. I did not know how I survived because the vehicle somersaulted three times,” the survivor said.
The middle-aged, fair-complexioned woman, who was wearing a dress designed for the burial, was full of praises to God, saying that “I escaped death by His grace.”
The driver of the Hummer, Mr Bright Ugwubujor, blamed the accident on brake failure.
