UNILAG Final-year Student, Bayo Nicknamed Warlord, of Economics Education Shot By Cult Group

A final-year student, Bayo of Economics Education at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), escaped death by a whisker Wednesday night when unknown gunmen shot him.

The gunmen, suspected to be a rival cult group, according to eyewitnesses had aimed at Bayo’s head but the bullet cut his neck.

Investigation showed that the Bayo who residents on the campus was fond of interacting with guys from outside, most of whom were cultists.

“He was standing at the campus gate when a vehicle with tinted glass pulled over and a gunshot came to him. The bullet hit his neck,” one of the students at the scene said.

He was quickly rushed to the institution’s medical centre for treatment but the injury was fatal. Bayo was later referred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba where he was resuscitated.

Asked if Bayo belonged to any cult group on campus, some of the students who spoke to Elevatenews said his behaviour on campus suggested he might be a cult member.

“He is one of the dreaded guys on campus and he dabbled into issues and perhaps he has been marked by the cults, most of whom are not students of UNILAG,” another student said.

Popularly referred to as Warlord, Bayo is presently recuperating from the bullet injury he sustained from the unknown gunmen.

Reacting to the crime, the varsity Vice-Chancellor Prof Rahamon Bello, said he learnt about it and that the management had set up an investigative panel to look at the situation.
