US ELECTION UPDATE: HILLARY CLINTON MAKES HISTORY AS FIRST FEMALE CANDIDATE OF A MAJOR POLITICAL PARTY IN US

Tuesday 27th July 2016 was the day that history was made in the United States of America as Hillary Clinton was declared as the Democratic Party nominee making her the first lady to clinch a nomination of a major party.

The democratic delegates officially gave her the required vote to clinch the nomination on the second day of the Democratic Convention.

Supporters of Bernie Sanders also came up on stage to give their full backing to Hillary even as a speech by her husband, former president Bill Clinton was met with a rousing ovation.

Immediately after her nomination was confirmed, Hillary tweeted, ‘we made history’

All the talk after then was focused on how a united front from the democrats would be needed to stop Trump from becoming the next president.
