US Government Deports 34 Nigerians
The United States Government has deported 34 Nigerians over various offences.
The deportees, who include 32 males and two females arrived at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja on Wednesday.
They arrived at about 2:30 pm aboard a chartered Omni Air International aircraft with Registration Number: W342AX.
A source from the Nigeria Immigration Service said that the deportees were repatriated over alleged offences ranging from impersonation, fraud, homicide, and possession of prohibited items.
Confirming the arrival of the deportees, the spokesperson for the Lagos Airport Police Command, DSP Joseph Alabi, said that they were alleged to have committed fraud and in possession of banned products.
He said that the immigration and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and the Nigeria Police Force received the deportees Wednesday afternoon.
According to Alabi, twenty-five (25) of the deportees were alleged to have committed criminal offences; one (1) was allegedly involved in narcotics while the others were alleged to have committed immigration-related offences.
The officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency were also on ground to check the deportees.
