We Are Ready To Receive High Profile Defectors – PDP
As the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, prepares to hold its Special Non-Elective National Convention in Abuja, the party said that the occasion will be used to welcome high profile defectors.
The Chairman of the convention, the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, said in three weeks some of the party chieftains who had defected would join PDP.
According to him, the party had set machinery in motion through its Reconciliation Committee to reach out to those who left the party due to some internal disagreement.
“We also have Contact and Mobilisation Committee in place to speak with the members, some of whom had signified their intention of rejoining the mega party,” he said.
Okowa explained that the ruling party had failed woefully and that there are great hope that with the way things are going PDP would be able to rescue the country from the present bad situation.
Though, he did not mention the returnees, it was reported last week that the reconciliation committee had resolved to send emissary to the former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his vice, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to return to the party.
However, a source said that Obasanjo’s only condition to join the party was that Abubakar would not contest for the 2019 presidential election under PDP platform.
Both had not been in good term ever since they quit the seat of powers in 2007 and effort to reconcile them had been futile.
However, the All Progressives Congress, APC is not perturbed by the PDP boast as the Spokesperson for the ruling party, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi said that none of his members would go to any party, including PDP.
