Why FG Labelled IPOB As Terrorist Group – Lai Mohammed
The Federal Government has stated reasons why it labelled the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB a terrorist group.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said that the utterances of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu was enough to nail him as a terrorist.
According to him, Kanu was caught on tape saying that IPOB would create Biafra by force and that he would rather die than not realizing Biafra State.
“Kanu declared that if they do not get Biafra, Somalia will be a paradise with the kind of mayhem they will unleash on Nigeria,” Mohammed said.
The Minister said that Kanu and IPOB went to the extent of creating the Biafra Secret Service and National Biafra Guard to attack the Nigerian Army formation.
Mohammed also said that ammunition and arms were found with Kanu, which of course was to be used against the sovereign country, Nigeria.
However, he stated that the Fulani herdsmen should not be compared with the IPOB, adding that some of the nomadic cattle rearers were criminals but not terrorists.
Besides, the minister stated that IPOB had begun to operate parallel government within Nigeria and also issue own passport.
He also said IPOB was soliciting for arms and ammunition from foreign countries with some of its sponsors and funders around the world. “This is beyond criminal, it is the terror.”
