Why I Fasted This Year – Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari said on Friday that he actually shunned advise from admirers not to observe this year Ramadan fasting.
He said that many had advised him not to observe the fasting because of his ill health but he shunned them because he knew the benefit of fasting.
The president said that he could not observe the Ramadan fasting last year because he was on medical vacation but this year, God intentionally renewed his energy and the best way to show God’s blessing is through fasting.
He said that he is stronger now than before after the 30-day fasting period as he called on Nigerians to be more prayerful for the country.
President Buhari urges the citizens to embrace peace and work towards making Nigeria greater again.
He said that he is optimistic that Nigeria will be better in the nearest future, adding that the government is making frantic effort to lead the country out of the present economic challenges.
“We do not have another country, except Nigeria. We have the human resources that can make us one of the best economies in the world,” the president said.
He used the occasion to congratulate his former Minister of Steel and Mines, Dr Kayode Fayemi for emerging the APC governorship candidate in Ekiti.
